Does that mean 12 possible positions of the handle, or only 2 positions?

Yes, you can have different positions of the handle, the dodecagonal socket allows indeed 12 positions.

However, since you cannot be in line with the arm you lose about two positions.

Take care to clamp and unclamp the system is then two positions.
